In today's unpredictable world, safety and preparedness have become paramount concerns. That's why we're excited to announce an upcoming event that focuses on enhancing safety awareness and preparedness. Thread Alaska, in collaboration with the Anchorage Fire Department and the Institute for Childhood Preparedness, presents "Safety Saturday" an all day in-person event designed specifically for early childhood professionals.

Event Details: Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This unique event aims to bring early educators together for a day of learning and practicing life-saving techniques. The venue is set to host a gathering of community partners, all coming together to foster relationships and collectively elevate the safety standards of our community.

What to Expect:

  1. 3-hour Active Shooter Preparedness Training by the Institute for Childhood Preparedness: In an increasingly uncertain world, knowing how to respond during an active shooter situation is critical. This comprehensive training will provide participants with the knowledge and practical exercises needed to make informed decisions and take effective actions in such dire circumstances. With a focus on both theory and hands-on practice, this training ensures that attendees are better prepared to protect themselves and those around them.

  2. Hands-on Fire Extinguisher Training with the Anchorage Fire Department: Fires can break out unexpectedly, making it imperative to understand the basics of fire safety and extinguishment. Working in cooperation with local fire department personnel, this training offers participants the opportunity to practice using fire extinguishers under professional supervision. By learning and mastering the fundamental techniques of fire extinguishment, attendees will gain a heightened sense of confidence in their ability to respond quickly and effectively to fires.

Why Attend? Safety Saturday presents an invaluable opportunity to learn from experts in the field of safety and emergency preparedness. The event not only equips attendees with life-saving skills but also encourages collaboration among various community partners. Building strong relationships and connections within the community contributes to an environment of safety and support.
